fi and co, fremantle, perth

October 29, 2009

Sorry Melbourne girls this little gem I found in Fremantle, Perth while I was there recently. Hidden at the back of the New Edition book shop is the Fremantle brach of Fi and Co a delightful store filled with vintage treasures and new special pieces.

I was immediatelly attracted to the book store which is in a beautiful old building, formerly the Fremantle bank branch. I also admit the gorgeous white fitted bodice dress also caught my eye.

Amongst the deco style book store, Fi and Co sits enticingly at the back of the store and if you venture further within into the bowels of former bank vaults you can find further treasures.

Fiona, ‘Fi’ the owner has found the perfect delicate balance between new finds from both overseas and locally and colourful vintage pieces. There are two jewellery cabinets filled with beautiful pieces - I got a gorgeous vintage style Peter Lang necklace! Appropriately the fashion and shoes books from New Edition sit together with Fi and Co’s gorgeous dresses (see below).

Likewise littered throughout the store some of Fi and Co dresses sit with the books.

I might go back to Fremantle just for another shop. Bring on the cheap airfares!

fremantle, perth

October 28, 2009

I was in sunny Perth a week or so ago and it was 38 degrees….it was a bit of a shock to my melbourne system to be honest. Gasp! Horror! The light…the sun….OMG are those my legs? I took a few photos of some gorgeous Perthies with whom I glowed pearly white in comparison.

scanlan and theodore and barbie

July 27, 2009

How cute is this! As a Melbournian (obviously!) I can’t physically check out the mini runway installation in Scanlan and Theodore’s Paddington boutique but I can post some super cute photos.

To celebrate their new seasons delivery, Scanlan and Theodore have created a minature runway for Barbie’s 50th birthday (I know 50! and she hasn’t aged a day…) The launch will coincide with the new season launch on Tuesday, July 28th.  Great care has been taken to meticulously recreate Scanlan & Theodore new season designs specifically for Barbie herself. scanlan-and-theodore-and-barbie-copy

Turned into mini supermodels, Barbie’s hair has been cut and styled by Sophie Roberts, inspired by models straight off the Paris runways. Faces have been stripped back and make up re-applied by Linda Jefferies. Don McQualter, who has designed the interiors for all Scanlan & Theodore boutiques, has designed the runway.

Oxford Street windows, Scanlan and Theodore for three weeks from 28th July 2009.

v festival sydney

March 30, 2009

Welcome to Melbourne Fashionista’s inaugural on location story. With no disloyalty to our beloved city, Melbourne, it is always nice to have a change of scene and check out another city’s sartorial selections. To be honest and perhaps it is just due to my tender old age, I think I may have become a little too precious for the festival scene… I will try not dwell on the fact that a giant smelly and sweaty man elbowed me in the ear, an angry girl swore at me because someone pushed me and I stepped on her toe and memory of the stench of four men publically urinating by the fence may remain with me for life. No I will not grumble but try to remember happier times when I saw the following lovely funky Sydneysiders.
