Every Little Step
In the history of musical theatre, one title stands tall above the rest as the dancers show…..
In 1975, ’A Chorus Line’ opened on Broadway and was greeted with unanimous raves from the critics. By its closing on April 28, 1990, it had become the longest running Broadway show of its time, grossed over $300 million in the US alone, won the Pulitzer Prize and 9 Tony Awards, spawned a Hollywood film starring Michael Douglas, and helped drive a renewed interest in theatre, especially musical theatre.
Every Little Step is a detailed examination of ‘A Chorus Line’ that goes back to the very beginning - when the legendary Michael Bennett, sitting around late one night with a group of dancers, recorded their conversations on audio tapes - these recordings, which have been locked away for decades, are the essence of “A Chorus Line” - you’ll see how fragments of conversation became lyrics in the show and rare footage of the original production.
Every Little Step reveals an audition process as intense as ‘A Chorus Line’ itself, as it settles in to watch the audition for the current Broadway revival that attracted some 3000 hopefuls. The whole glorious gamut of emotions involved is laid bare.
Every Little Step is an astonishingly moving theatrical experience.
Opens July 2 at Cinema Nova Carlton and Rivoli Cinemas Camberwell. Sneak previews will be held Friday 26, Saturday 27th and Sunday 28 June. Rated M. Check cinema websites or newspaper directories for session times.
